Wanaque vs Upper Saddle River/Allendale 10-10-10

The Warriors had their home opener on 10/10/10. Not only was that a date that will not occur again for over 400 years, but the Warriors had their best game of the season. It was a combination of tough defense and high-powered offense that took them to victory. Not only did they shut out their opponent, but scored 20 points as well. Wanaqe vs Pompton Plains 9/19/2010

This was another close game.  This was a tough game that came down to defense.

The score was 0-0 late in the second half when a very controversial play happened. Pompton Plains was on the 5 yard line when they threw into the end zone. The ball appeared to have bounced off the ground, but it was called a catch and touchdown. Take a look at the play and you decide. Also check out the Wanaque coach (who had the best view of the play) call a no catch, but regardless it was still called a touchdown.

There was nothing that could be done about the bad call, so the Warriors decided to deny them the extra point attempt with their steel curtain defense. 

The Warriors followed that touchdown up with an exciting 30 yard break-away run of their own, and the Panthers were smothered on the ensuing kickoff.

2010 Wanaque Warriors "B" Squad Opener At Glen Rock

Wanaque Warriors "B" Squad Road Opener 9/12/2010


The Wanaque Warriors visited the Glen Rock Panthers for a showdown. The Warriors had some encouragement from the Cheerleaders before kickoff:



Once the cheering stopped and the coin flip was done. The Warriors lost the toss so Glen Rock chose to receive the ball in the first half. Here is the the kickoff:



Glen Rock's defense was tough defending against the run, but Wanaque was still able to move the ball on the ground.




However Wanaque played defense that stopped Glen Rock in their tracks. At the half the score was 7-0 in favor of the Warriors and the Wanaque Cheerleaders provided the halftime entertainment:




When the second half started Wanaque was kicking off. The crowd could feel the intensity of the Warriors. You can even hear a fan shouting out "I Smell A Superbowl!"


It was late in the game when Glen Rock got the ball back. They ended up scoring a touchdown with 24 seconds left in the game. Glen Rock went for the conversion and fumbled the snap. However due to a penalty they were able to get a second crack at it. Wanaque toughened up and stopped them cold. Watch the exciting conclusion of the game. Be aware you will need to forward the tape a little bit because this cameraman forgot to shut off the camera and recorded nothing during a time out.
